Shopping Centre attack in Melbourne, Australia

Information Obtained

On 25 May 2025, a violent altercation occurred in a major shopping centre known as Northland, located in the northeast of Melbourne, Australia.

According to media reports and police statements, the altercation was a planned meet up between two rival gangs, forcing the shopping centre to enact lockdown drills involving shoppers taking refuge inside stores that were locked by owners.

A key notice of the reports is that some of the offenders were armed with edged weapons, with one CCTV still shot showing a fighting-age male armed with a machete.

COMMENT Currently, these reports have not specified any gang names or other identifying features, however this incident has thrust an issue that has been plaguing Victorians for significant period of time – youth crime END COMMENT.
