PART ONE - Understanding Your Operating Environment (OE)
To begin, lets define what we mean by ‘Operating Environment’ for the every day person practically. Whilst the term is utilised by militaries/law enforcement to describe their area of operations, the OE can be thought of as the local area that encompasses your pattern of life. In other words, the destinations that during the week you frequent due to commitments, routines etc. Some general places may be:
Your Residence
Your Work address
Your main Shopping hub for groceries
Your sport/recreational gyms
Restaurants/pubs you frequent
Your child/ren’s school.
However, this is by no means an exhaustive list and will differ for everyone, just like how my OE will be different to yours.
For ease of learning, lets assume that the majority of places that are part of your pattern of life are within an approximate five-to-seven kilometre radius.
The next points will almost certainly already be known by you, the readers. What its taken is the articulation of this for it to make sense in how you view the world - real practical insights into how a little bit of different thinking can make you vastly more aware of an ever-increasing threat environment.
